TraceArea is intended for users aged 16 or older.
1. Overview
TraceArea is a location-based activity tracking application that allows users to record routes, calculate covered areas, and optionally share live location sessions.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Authentication credentials
This is required to provide access to your account.
2.2 Precise Location Data
When you use recording or live features, we collect:
- GPS latitude and longitude
- Route points
- Timestamps
- Activity tracks (e.g., GPX paths)
Location data is associated with your account.
2.3 Live Share Sessions
If you activate Live Share:
- A unique public link is generated
- Anyone with the link can view the session
- Sessions automatically expire after 48 hours
- Associated live location data is automatically deleted after expiration
We recommend sharing links only with trusted contacts.
2.4 Activity Data
Recorded activities remain stored in your account until:
- You delete them manually, or
- You delete your account
3. How We Use Your Data
We use collected data to:
- Record and display activities
- Calculate covered areas
- Enable live location sharing
- Provide Safety Trace (SOS) functionality
- Manage user accounts
We do not:
- Sell your data
- Use third-party advertising
- Perform cross-app tracking
4. Background Location Usage
TraceArea may request background location access to:
- Continue activity recording when the device is locked
- Maintain Live Share sessions in the background
- Enable Safety Trace functionality
Background location is user-initiated and can be disabled at any time in device settings.
5. Data Retention
Live Share sessions expire automatically after 48 hours.
Live session location data is deleted after expiration.
Activity data remains until deleted by the user.
All user data is permanently deleted when the account is deleted.
6. Data Storage & Security
Data is stored using secure cloud infrastructure (Supabase).
We implement reasonable technical safeguards to protect user data.
7. Your Rights (EU Users)
Under the GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request deletion
- Withdraw consent where applicable
You may delete your account at any time within the app.
